The chapter that meets in Hartford CT is called:
HEARHEREHARTFORD CHAPTER

Our Goals: to empower teens and young adults to overcome their everyday life challenges associated with hearing loss.
We aim to do this using a mentor model.
Mentors participating in our chapter are all successful, hearing impaired adults who freely share their experience to
provide hope, inspiration, and support to our young members. With support of dedicated mentors, as well as Teachers of the
Hearing Impaired, our Chapter strives to help our youth move toward acceptance of their hearing loss and find strategies to
manage it in everyday life situations.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE Eastern CT chapter
The EASTERN CT chapter meets on the 3nd Saturday of the month at 10:00AM -September thru June- (July a picnic)We do
have a holiday party in December.
Meeting place is at The UConn Campus in Storrs CT at the Phillips Communicatin Sciences Building- 2nd floor.

Our meetings are an educational experience. Most of our meetings are with speakers who are professionals in the area of hearing
loss.
Please come join us for fellowship, information and self-help support. Everyone is welcome.
We use a CART transliterator (similar to a court stenographer)- supplied by the Audiology Dept at UConn to provide the captioning
for what is being said. (see picture at bottom for example of how captioning works)
For those who utilize the "T" coil function of their hearing aids, we have installed an inductive loop system to help
with your hearing needs.

During our 18 years of existence – our chapter’s steering committee has striven to keep you informed on various
topics regarding hearing loss!
We have had programs and events especially tailored to offer you- a person with hearing loss, meetings- both informative
and constructive- and to meet other hard of hearing people in a social setting – with our main objective designed to
focus on you—the person.
NO PROGRAMS WILL BE POSTED HERE FOR THE FORESEABLE FUTURE
OUR WEBSITE IS DOWN- HOWEVER- We encourage all to continue membership in the National Chapter, and for those so inclined-
to travel up to UConn to the Eastern CT Chapter’s meetings.
It has been a rewarding time for those who have unselfishly contributed to our success. We thank the officers-both current
